A fiesta is a party, a celebration, a thanksgiving. To a Spaniard, it symbolises the town in which they were born: its Patron Saint; its culture. Therefore fiestas are important to places, to individuals and to families, and so they're celebrated!
There are so many wonderful fiestas celebrated in the Costa Blanca that you are bound to see one whatever time of year you travel. There are elaborately decorated and traditional costumes, re-enactments of historical battles, some of the loudest and most colourful fireworks you will ever see and hear, and lots of delicious (and sometimes free) food and drink for all.
We've included a list of all the important fiestas in each village / town description where appropriate, so there really is no excuse for not rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in to one of the most enchanting and important areas of Spanish culture.

Villamartin

The Villamartin development began in 1972 and has evolved into a splendid Mediterranean village of 1500 apartments, townhouses and villas with two excellent 18-hole golf courses at its heart, including the original Club de Golf Villamartin and the new Las Ramblas de Orihuela. There is also a central square with a bank, supermarket, shops, cafes and fine restaurants.
Villamartin is fast becoming one of the most prestigious golf courses in Spain, with all the amenities you would expect from a development of this standard. Added to which the climate is wonderful, the beaches are un-crowded and there are a number of lively towns within close proximity. No wonder Villamartin is attracting so much interest!
Close to Villamartin are numerous beaches with magnificent views over the sparkling blue Mediterranean and the �white sand� that is typical of the Costa Blanca. The beaches along the coastline close to Villamartin are Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, and Campoamor. All of these beaches and all the other major beaches along this part of the Mediterranean coastline are regularly awarded the European Blue Flag which is your guarantee of high standards and facilities for the whole family.

The Costa Blanca is one of the healthist places to live in Southern Europe with 320 days of sunshine a year and a year round average temperature of 20 degrees. There are miles and mile of blue flag beaches within a short drive.
Murcia city and Alicante are both within 40 minutes drive away and offer a multitude of museums, shops, cafes and restaurants.
