The area

The bungalow is located on Pinada Golf 1 on the renowned Villamartin Urbanization, It is a five minute drive to three Championship Golf Courses, and a ten minute walk to Villamartin Plaza where you will find a host of bars and restaurants offering international cuisine. La Zenia beach is a five minute drive by car, Cabo Roig and Campoamar beaches are a further five minutes away. Torrevieja town is fifteen minutes by car, here you will find a good selection of shops, restaurants, and entertainment, and by night the unusual street market for all your keepsakes. Further down the coast is the world famous La Manga Resort, where you can visit and soak up the atmosphere or perhaps play a round of golf if you require. Villamartin lies approximately twenty five kilometres (twenty mins.) away from Murcia airport; however, more flights tend to go to Alicante which is approximately sixty kilometres (forty mins.) away.

More area

The local area of mainly British residents is residential, so there are no high-rise hotels to cloud the clear blue skies, like much of this part of Spain, is currently being developed albeit not next to our Calle (Street). Our villa is a pleasant 10-minute walk by the golf course to Villamartin Plaza (which comes alive at night), and has a good selection of shops, restaurants, bars and a well-stocked supermarket. A little closer by are 3 local bar/restaurants. The clear warm sea of the Med is an easy 10 min drive down the hill where you will find some lovely beaches and pleasant walks as well as other restaurants and bars. A little further a field (20 mins) is the market town of Torrevieja, which is a medium sized town with many shops, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and a good market where many bargains can be bought. This place is great for water sports and the international marina with the capacity for 1500 boats is always busy and it is great to sit with a cold beer and watch life go by!BEACHES Within a short drive of the house, the beaches are plentiful and vary from vast expanses of sand to small pebble coves. Many of the safe white sandy beaches are proud to display the prestigious Blue Flag, which is awarded by the EU for cleanliness and safety. The beaches along the coastline close to Villamartin are La Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, and Campoamor. La Zenia is the closest to the house,only a few minutes drive.
Calla Captaen is next to La Zenia and is a very safe beach to swim or snorkel. You can take a boat ride to the island of Tabarca where scuba diving is a pleasure, or sail along the coast. Fishing trips and boat rides are available from the port of Torrevieja. During the day you can enjoy the sea and sun along the magnificent beaches, while at night time you can enjoy a meal in one of the many excellent restaurants along the seafront. Regardless of your choice of beach you will not be disappointed.

Golf

As mentioned, our home is situated next to Villamartin Championship Golf Course, which has an abundance of olive trees and well placed bunkers to make it a challenging course for players of all abilities. If that was not enough to tempt the golfers, then within 5 mins drive we have another two! Las Ramblas which is a stunning, but short course and is most challenging. High trees, natural fairways and ravines feature strongly in this memorable course. Finally we have Campoamor, which is situated, in two valleys with magnificent views and with a beautiful clubhouse to finish off the day! For the hard to please a 30 min drive further south will bring you to La Manga the world famous golf resort with three 18-hole courses to choose from. It is important to bring your handicap card as well as plenty of sunscreen. What more can the enthusiastic golfer ask for!

Beach Life

All the local beaches are blue flag, the closet being La Zenia under 10 minutes in the car or a bit further away there are miles of sandy beaches at Guadamar.

Loads of water sports at Mar Menor a 20 drive away you can also expericence the healing salt waters and mud baths.

Orihuela is just a 20 minutes drive inland through the orange and lemon groves and is a historical town unspoilt by tourism. Featuring many churches and museums, you can even ring the bell at the local convent and purchase pastries and jams from the nuns. Beware here that siesta is observed and everything shuts down for the afternnon.
