The Orihuela Costa and it's surrounding areas have many beautiful cities and villages to visit during your holiday in Spain. Whether it be for golf, beaches or dining out, there is always something for the entire family to do. Enjoy the first segment of the places to visit here in the Orihuela Costa.
Los Balcones is undeniably rich in beauty, culture and entertainment with a blend of Mediterranean and Spanish culture all around you. There is also three championship golf courses with in a 10 minute drive such as Club de Golf Villamartin, Club de Golf las Ramblas de Orihuela and Real Club de Golf Campoamor. If it's water sports you are interest in there are several beaches only a few minutes drive away including Playa Flamenca and La Zenia. You can lay in the sun, kite surf, windsurf, and scuba dive as many of the beaches have hire equipment available to make your holiday just that much more enjoyable. If all of this is not enough then there is a huge wildlife park, Salinas de Torrevieja wildlife park, located next door. The park has salt lakes which are home to flamingos which migrate here on a yearly basis.
Playa Flamenca is located on the southern part of the Costa Blanca in what is known as the Orihuela Costa. This area is known for a laid back relaxed atmosphere and is centrally located with access to all types of activities such as water sports, golf, night life and so much more. Available here is horse riding, walking, fishing trips or a day trip to Tabarca island. Playa Flamenca has a well known Saturday market where you can buy gifts for those back home or stock up your holiday rental villa or for retail shopping you can make a trip over to Torrevieja to the Habanaras shopping centre. Within a few minutes of Playa Flamenca is three championship golf courses, Club de Golf Villamartin, Club de Golf de Golf las Ramblas de Orihuela and Golf Club de Golf Campoamor.
Punta Prima is primarily a beach holiday resort located on the Orihuela Costa. The beach has been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag for cleanliness, safety and providing all the required facilities for the entire family. There are other beaches close by for you to enjoy such as La Zenia and Playa Flamenca. There are many places you can hire equipment if you are into scuba diving or other activities to enjoy are windsurfing, kite surfing and of course soaking up the rays. If it's golf you are into then look no further because there are three championship courses with in a few minutes drive including Club de Golf Villamartin, Club de Golf las Ramblas de Orihuela and Real Club be Golf Campoamor. For a night life the town of Torrevieja is only a 5 minute drive away offering you plenty of entertainment or have a go at the water park. Torrevieja has many different restaurants and bars to suit you every need.
Quesada is located on the southern end of the Costa Blanca. This area is well known for being the second healthiest place in the world to live probably due to its climate, clean air, and its close proximity to the salt lakes. This makes a good base to explore the rest of the beaches on the Costa Blanca including the golf courses and the magnificent mountains. It is here that you can sample the true taste of Spain through their culture and cuisine on offer. Don't worry about something to do as there are beaches, salt lakes with all the wildlife and the intoxicating towns and all there for the taking. Just because Quesada is small it doesn't mean you are short changed on the amenities as it has all of the facilities and services needed while you are on holiday. This is a place for the whole family as there is a water park that provides hours of entertainment plus a number of excellent restaurants, café's and bars where you can try the local dishes.
Rojales is located on the Costa Blanca in Spain and is well known as a relaxing place for a holiday break. In this area you can enjoy the lovely countryside, ideal for walking or exploring the cave houses just south of the village for which it is known. There are a number of beaches on your doorstep including the beaches of Torrevieja and La Mata where you can have a lazy day in the sun or do a little windsurfing or even a dab of scuba diving in the crystal clear waters or even book a wreck diving trip. For the golfer, with in a few minutes, there is the Rojales town golf club, Club de Golf La Finca at Algorfa / La Finca and many more. Torrevieja is close by and you can visit the National Park of the Lagoons, located here are walking and cycling trails to watch the migratory birds such as the flamingos.
San Miguel de Salinas is a truly traditional Spanish village located near to Torrevieja. The town of San Miguel is surrounded by citrus groves and vegetable patches that gives you some idea of its heritage. This town has a true taste of Spanish culture and cuisine. Just a few minutes down the road is Guardamar where you will find some of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca. The beaches are a good jumping off place for sailing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, water skiing lessons and canoeing trips. If it is necessary to get a round of golf in then the top quality course of La Finca Golf Club is just a short drive down the road. Also around the corner is the famous Villamartin Golf Course where the Spanish open was played. San Miguel de Salinas exudes a truly Spanish atmosphere and people travel miles just to visit some of the restaurants and bars located in the city centre.
Torrevieja is located on the Costa Blanca just south of Alicante. Torrevieja was originally a traditional Spanish fishing village but over the years it has grown into a major tourist destination. Torrevieja has a number of beaches that have the European Blue Flag award which stands for cleanliness, safety and possessing all of the required facilities for the whole family. There are any number of water sports activities on offer here for people of all ages. The beaches here include Playa Los Locos, Playa Naufragos, and Playa de la Cura plus a few more. Torrevieja also has a promenade that runs along the sea front and is lined with restaurants and cafes where you can have tapas and while the day away as you watch the sun set over the Mediterranean. Friday is the local Market but make sure you allow a lot of time as it is extremely large or go shopping at the Habanaras shopping centre for a little retail therapy. There is also the water park located next to the marina where you can spend hours on their new rides. The golfer is not left out either as there are three championship courses with in a 15 minute drive of Torrevieja. If you are a nature loving tourist then why not visit the National Park where there are over 200 different species of bird life including the pink flamingos.
Villamartin is located on the southern part of the Costa Blanca in the Orihuela Costa. The construction of this urbanization began in 1972 and has grown to be one of the largest tourist destinations on the Costa Blanca. You will never be short of something to do in this area especially since Torrevieja is only five minutes down the road. Villamartin is home to the world famous Club de Golf Villamartin with its sister course, Club de Golf las Ramblas de Orihuela, is just ten minutes down the road as is Real Club de Golf Campoamor. With in a five minute drive is a number of Blue Flag beaches including La Zenia. Here you will find apart from sunbathing, scuba diving, windsurfing and much more. There are plenty of local markets within a short drive and as a matter of fact there are markets on nearly everyday in the area. If this is not enough then make a trip over to Torrevieja where you will find the Habanaras shopping centre where you can shop till you drop.
Villamartin Plaza is with out a doubt the best known place in the Orihuela Costa located on the Costa Blanca. It is world famous for the Club de Golf Villamartin, site of the Spanish Open and within a few minutes drive there are two more championship golf courses. Villamartin Plaza is only a few minutes drive from some of the best Blue Flagged beaches located on the Costa Blanca with plenty of activities including windsurfing, kite surfing, scuba diving and wreck diving or just have a lazy day in the sun. The Plaza has just about anything you need including a bank, grocery store, doctor, restaurants and bars plus much more. Torrevieja is only a fifteen minute drive away with much on offer to do with a water park which will occupy a full day with its new rides and of course plenty of restaurants and bars to suit any taste. Having said all of this it is not really necessary to leave the Plaza as all you need can found here or within a few minutes drive.
